Job Title: Part-Time Bookkeeper for Nonprofit

Reports to: Executive Director

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Accounts Payable & Receivable.
  2. Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
  3. Produce and distribute 1099 MISC forms annually followed by appropriate reporting to the Internal Revenue Service, Kentucky State Treasurer and Louisville Metro Revenue Commission.
  4. Monitor and record grant spending.
  5. Prepare internal audit reporting and final financial reporting for grants as needed.
  6. Assist external auditors in preparing year-end financial reports.
  7. Provide monthly financial reports to the Board Treasurer along with any additional reporting requests.
  8. Assist with the preparation of an annual budget.
  9. Conduct background checks and set up employment files for new employees.
  10. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Knowledge, Training and Skills

  1. Associate or bachelor’s degree (accounting degree preferred).
  2. Proficiency in QuickBooks and ability to use Microsoft Office software – primarily Word and Excel.
  3. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  4. Excellent verbal and written skills. Must be proficient in English.
  5. The ability to work well with colleagues, volunteers, donors, etc. is critical.
  6. Previous working experience with nonprofits is preferred, but not required.
  7. Interest in Asian arts and cultures is a great plus.

Working Hours:

  1. Minimum of 16 hours per week on average. Two days of office work (8:30 am-4:30 pm at Asia Institute – Crane House location) are required in the first 6 months.  Additional hours may be required during the first 12 days of each month to facilitate the completion of monthly reporting in a timely manner.
  2. Should be able to work remotely and outside normal working hours or on weekends, if necessary.
