Job Title: Part-Time Bookkeeper for Nonprofit
Reports to: Executive Director
Duties and Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable & Receivable.
- Process payroll on a bi-weekly basis.
- Produce and distribute 1099 MISC forms annually followed by appropriate reporting to the Internal Revenue Service, Kentucky State Treasurer and Louisville Metro Revenue Commission.
- Monitor and record grant spending.
- Prepare internal audit reporting and final financial reporting for grants as needed.
- Assist external auditors in preparing year-end financial reports.
- Provide monthly financial reports to the Board Treasurer along with any additional reporting requests.
- Assist with the preparation of an annual budget.
- Conduct background checks and set up employment files for new employees.
- Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
Knowledge, Training and Skills
- Associate or bachelor’s degree (accounting degree preferred).
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and ability to use Microsoft Office software – primarily Word and Excel.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written skills. Must be proficient in English.
- The ability to work well with colleagues, volunteers, donors, etc. is critical.
- Previous working experience with nonprofits is preferred, but not required.
- Interest in Asian arts and cultures is a great plus.
Working Hours:
- Minimum of 16 hours per week on average. Two days of office work (8:30 am-4:30 pm at Asia Institute – Crane House location) are required in the first 6 months. Additional hours may be required during the first 12 days of each month to facilitate the completion of monthly reporting in a timely manner.
- Should be able to work remotely and outside normal working hours or on weekends, if necessary.
