AICH has need for interns in exhibition planning and implementation, collections management, education, library services, financial management, Asian studies and many other areas.

We seek to engage students in their area of study and to provide a real world laboratory in which to apply their knowledge.

Interns will work independently and with the Education, Public Programming and/or Curatorial departments, Louisville’s Asian Communities and others to assist in the development, implementation and coordination of programs that achieve Asia Institute – Crane House’ goals in Asian cultural education, programs, and community building.

Asia Institute – Crane House is looking for an in-person intern to provide administrative, communications, event planning support to our programs.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1.  Provide administrative staff support for the AICH office and events, including assisting in correspondence and coordinating support activities.
  2. Develop a variety of different content to support communications and marketing efforts at AICH, including newsletters, website, and social media.
  3. Review and process a variety of incoming correspondence. Respond to and prepare replies. Maintain logs and gather data for various lists and reports.
  4. Assist AICH Program Director with events, educational workshops, seminars, trainings, professional development including the planning, setting up, and clean up.
  5. Create promotional content and consistently update materials for social media and websites.
  6. Support and/or participate in cultural outreach activities, including festivals, committees and social events.
  7. erform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  •  Minimum of two years of administrative assistant experience, preferably at a non-profit organization. An equivalent combination of education, training and/or
    experience may be substituted for the requirements
  • Flexible schedule including weekend availability
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills, well organized, accurate and detail oriented.
  • Possess a high degree of cultural sensitivity and awareness as well as excellent communication and human relations skills
  • Interest in Asian cultures
  • Experience with general office procedures and methods
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • A creative, analytic, and strategic thinker with good judgement and the ability to make independent and proactive decisions in a changing environment
  • Strong knowledge social media and basic graphic design content creation
  • Good time management and organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software, computers, and website
  • Familiar with website design, content creation, programming, and coding is a plus
