SUMMARY:Language Corner Special Event - Mahjong Club
DESCRIPTION:Have you heard of Mahjong Game? Do you know how to play Mahjong or are you a Mahjong lover? \nMahjong or mah-jongg is a tile-based game played by four players. It was developed in the 19th century in China and has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. \nOur Mahjong Club will introduce this ancient game to all participants and teach each how to play Mahjong. Afterwards\, participants can practise playing Mahjong with others under the guidance of the teachers. \nThis is a fun club that is open to all interested (ages 16 and up). Registration is required. $10 per person. \nJoin us on Saturday\, Nov.5 from 10:30 am-12:30 pm for this exciting hands-on workshop!

DESCRIPTION:Asia Institute – Crane House to Host the Inaugural 2022 Asian Night Market\, Saturday\, October 8th\, 2022 from 7 pm – 10 pm. \n The Asian Night Market will feature food trucks with delicious\, authentic cuisine from various Asian countries\, energetic performances\, and retail vendors from the continent as well. This event is made possible in partnership with Asia Institute – Crane House\, Louisville Downtown Partnership\, and 4th Street Live! \nAsia Institute – Crane House is proud to feature cuisine from all over Asia; while highlighting the cultural aspect of the cuisine itself\, it is also a prime opportunity to highlight the entrepreneurs and small business owners in the local community who are of Asian heritage. \nThe food truck line-up:\n\nThai – All Thai’d Up\nFilipino – Bamba Eggrolls\nTaiwanese – Hot Buns\nJapanese – Louisville Sushi\nKorean – Kristel’s keto Kitchen\nVietnamese – Eatz\nIndian – Dakshin\nVietnamese / Taiwanese – Fresh Out of the Box\n\nArts & Culture is vital to the Asian community. Through the expression of the performing arts\, each group brings a poignant cultural immersion experience at the Asian Night Market. Asia Institute – Crane House is a Southern Cultural Treasure\, and recipient of the Southern Cultural Treasures Award. The performances are underwritten by the South Arts Grant\, which allows us to bring rich cultural experiences through the performing arts to the Downtown Louisville area. The Kentucky Arts Council\, the state arts agency\, also provides operating support to Asia Institute – Crane House\, and federal funding from the National Endowment for the Arts. \n\n\nEntertainment & Performances:\n\nAssociation of Chinese Americans of Kentuckiana\nDusk N Dawn (K-pop)\nRiver Lotus Lion Dance\nCultura Philippines\nOreya’s dance\nCardinal Bhanagra\nSpirit of Art Education Center\n\n\n\nIt’s a free & family friendly event and open to the public.\nWe have street food from local Asian food trucks and entertainment all night!\n\n\n\n\nParking is available at Omni parking garage\, Fourth Street Live parking garage\, 3rd street parking garage.
